The Journey Continues
I'd made myself available to ship out Wednesday,no need to be hanging around like a spare part i thought, just after a quick visit to the gym i got the call, come in anytime your trailers all ready but nip into see us first about your pay rise, Hummmmm Pay rise things are looking up.So now were on 35 cents per mile and we have introduced some new bonuses which are gained every two months, maybe someone has been listening for a change,so there's the good news i was just about to be hit by the bad, i know my truck has been used for the last few weeks its totally understanderable i wouldn't expect it not to be what i didn't expect the way it was left.Oily dirty boot marks all inside it looked like the yard dog inside, so one was not happy at all.Check the oil non showing on the dipstick ( it was all on my carpet in the truck Lol).So after a couple of hours of getting straight sorting all my logs pretrip etc i try and hook onto my trailer, problem, because everytime someone greases the fifth wheel all the old grease gets jammed into where the bar goes across the pin (this should be jet washed out but hasn't because ive not been using the truck) because of the cold weather this has now become a solid mass of frozen grease preventing the jaws from locking correctly, Arggg good way to start, anyway not to be deterred i managed to sort it.My load was for Guilderland Ny which is just west of Albany Ny the capital of New York State some 800 miles away so only a little jaunt down the road,a little trip into US customs for a new i94 thats sorted for another year now and off we head down through Maine. It felt really strange being back on my own again lots of memories of the Fresh Prince where ever i looked (i even made his bed up for him)so as you can imagine it was rather a somber sort of day.I made my drop Friday morning and was tipped straight away and result my reload was only 8 miles down the road in Rotterdam, thats where it all went Pete Tonge 9 1/2 hrs later im still on a bay, although most of this time was spent with Cameron Diaz so not all wasted,oh well just a couple of miles down the road was a pilot truckstop so i dived in for some well needed diesel and a good shower, and im ready to head into the cold snowy night of Upper New York state.I was heading West along the i90 to Syracuse then north up the i81 to Alexandria Bay where i will cross back into Canada,as the snow started to increase i decided to call it a night there was no way i was going to make my delivery time so no need to break ones neck, i headed into a rest area it really looked pictureesque with all the snow, i thought it would take a nice photo in the morning, how dissappointed i was to see the snow ploughs had been in and cleared it all.I made it to my delivery in Whitby Ontario and was given my reload out of Canbridge back to Moncton Nb for Tuesday (thats if the loads ready i have been in this place for over 30 hours getting loaded before now so we will wait and see) then maybe i will be lucky and get a load down to the sunshine state you can always dream.
